The Folio Anthology of Humour 1992

This book is nothing more than what its title describes, a collection of 35 short stories that vary in length from four to eighteen pages, and come from an extraordinarily wide range of sources – Mark Twain, Anthony Trollope, James Thurber, Jerome K. Jerome and Charles Dickens being some examples.

Unusually for a FS book, it has no illustrations in its 400 pages, but the stories are just right for reading one at a time in bed before drifting of to sleep with a faint smile. General light entertainment would be the best description, rather than hilariously funny (with a couple of exceptions).

There is a preface by P.G. Wodehouse. The book is bound in yellow cloth with garish green stripes. And the page tops are tinted pale green. My copy is the 2008 reprint, which has a red slipcase (25.1x16.2cm.) instead of the original green one. The endleaves are plain bright yellow. There is an author bibliography at the back of the book.
