Yesterday I added a group of 8 new hardcover (+ 1 PB-only) non-fiction books in the LT Sustainability group, in our Zeitgeist thread. Avg # pages is 295, so they are *not* short books. The average price for those 9 today is $19.38 ... which is a major price drop in these last 9 years I've been listing new sustainability books on LT, especially hardcover, and especially on the climate crisis. So far I see no mention on Amazon or press stories of any such new policies, hmmm.
If this is truly a new policy (a new marketing "loss leader"?), please spread that word to librarians.

You leave many questions unanswered.
Same publishers? Is there a change in list prices (as opposed to Amazon's)? Perhaps such books are a glut on the market now?

Librarians generally don't buy books through Amazon.
