I have my copy of the book ready to go and will probably start this at some point over the weekend.

A couple of chapters in. Very entertaining but I'm still trying to figure out why it's a 1001 book. No matter! It was a great choice to read at a trying moment.

I hve completed my read of Mr. Norris Changes Trains, I enjoyed the book but found that my knowledge of where Germany was headed definitely came into play. As the book was set in 1931 and published in 1935, the author didn't have any foresight but I wonder if one of the reasons he later claimed the book was shallow was that he clearly based William Bradshaw on himself and then revealed his own political artlessness. Of course he apparently also later regretted not depicting Bradshaw as gay.

I read this over a couple of days. Enjoyed it very much and a good choice for a group read in uncertain times.

Finished this a couple of days ago; review on my thread. Excellent read for the housebound. Thanks to whomever suggested it.

Just found a copy of Isherwood's The Berlin Novels which includes this book. So I'll be a bit late in my read but look forward to it.

I enjoyed both parts of The Berlin Stories. I want to read more Isherwood, after I get through this list!!
