I'm hoping it'll be at least an interesting and well-told story but some excitement would be good too. I've read 6 of the Bosch books and have liked them all, although some were better than others.

I love seeing the "early" Bosch.

I read this one over 4 years ago. I rated it only 3★s. I'm hoping I can get a bit more out of it this time.

I read the first 5 books when they were first published (so about 20-30 years ago) while I was living in Los Angeles. Kept meaning to get back to them but never did. I remember general bits of the Bosch storyline but not really any specifics of the cases. Hoping to re-start the series.

I read it over 5 years ago, this was my brief review of it,
This was a book of two halves, it took some while to get going and really engage me, but the second half fully engaged me and kept me wanting to read on. The later part of the book was full of action and was more like a thriller than a crime book. Overall I will rate this four stars on balance.

>7 Andrew-theQM: I'm pleased to see the pace picks up in the second half.

A much lower rating than the first one.

>10 Andrew-theQM: Yes it is, but there was 2 more participants and no one gave it higher than a 4. I thought all of the ratings were a true reflection of the book.
12Andrew-theQM
>11 Carol420: I’d agree, spoilt our high ratings of recent books.

>12 Andrew-theQM: At least we didn't all hate it. Our conversations should get a 5 though:)

There were 4 options for Group Reads in May, the three from our list :
1. The Bishop’s Pawn by Steve Berry, #13 in the Cotton Malone Series
2. A Dark and Twisted Tide by Sharon Bolton, #4 in the Lacey Flint Series
3. The Skeleton Room by Kate Ellis, #7 in the Wesley Peterson Series
And the next book in The Camel Club Series, Divine Justice
Unfortunately with the library situation I can only get hold of the Sharon Bolton book and the David Baldacci Book.
Can I therefore suggest we read these next
A Dark and Twisted Tide by Sharon Bolton, #4 in the Lacey Flint Series Start Friday 8th May
Divine Justice by David Baldacci starting Monday 18th May.

>14 Andrew-theQM: Can we switch them around? I can get both books but only the Baldacci book now. The Bolton book is on hold and it says that I'm next but people can have the books for 3 weeks so I don't even know if I'll have it by the 18th. Whatever works for everyone else. I will haunt the site no matter if I'm reading the book or not:)

>16 Carol420: We will plan to do the Camel Club Book next Friday if everyone can get it. 😊

>17 Andrew-theQM: Okay...thanks. If it doesn't work out, please do whatever the majority can do.
19Olivermagnus
I have my own copy of Divine Justice so if anyone needs it let me know and I'll convert my copy to a format you can use.

>19 Olivermagnus: Thanks Lynda. 😊👍

>16 Carol420: You can get a copy of Bolton's book here: https://archive.org/details/nationalemergencylibrary

>16 Carol420: this won’t help your situation since I think you’re waiting for a physical book but I learned something new the other day in the kindle forum on Reddit. I haven’t tried this yet but I understand that once you’ve downloaded the book from the library to your device, you can return the book to the library and still have it available for reading. All you have to do is put the device in airplane mode or turn off the WiFi/cellular connections so it doesn’t update until you finish the book.
