Hey what do you think would happen if Lincoln wasn't assasinated ?

I'm not sure it would have been much different, do you? I can't decide if Reconstruction would have come off better or worse. Lincoln was a loss, but his death also moved Northern sentiment.

England had won the American Revolution of 1776 and the Battle of 1812 and America had surrendered after the White House was burned down. We would all be speaking the Queen's English, actually be part of the British Empire like Canada, Australia, Jamaica and the Briitsh Virgin Islands and probably be driving on the other side of the road too. Does anyone of any books that were written with this What If Scenario?

Also another What If scenario is if the South had actually won the Civil War. I don't want to think or even go into detail about the negative down sides of that particular What If scenario. I was also wondering if there had also been any books written on this scenario as well.

Would America even have entered WWII if it wasn't for Pearl Harbor? I also don't like to think about the fate of England if Chamberlain had been the British PM during the Battle of Britain instead of Churchill. Churchill was exactly the right kind of PM England needed at the time not somone like Chamberlain who came back with Hitler's Signature Promising he wouldn't Attack England. I know there is a book out there about what woud've happened if the Allies had lost WWII. I can't think of the name o the book or who wrote it though.

Personally as an Anglophile I always liked the idea of being under the Union Jack, having Tea and Crumpets, driving on the other side of the road, and being a British Citizen. Put on the telly, put my feet up and have a cuppa while I watch MasterPiece Theatre, EastEnders, or some Britcoms. Fancy a Biscuit anyone?
