Any initial thoughts on a note turning up on the morning of the court case, and four years after the killing? Do you think it is from the Dollmaker?

I believe it may be from the Dollmaker. He probably doesn't like someone else getting the credit for his work even if that person is dead.

It does seem like the Dollmaker may still be alive.

It'll take a lot more than a note out of the blue to make me believe the Dollmaker is still around - Why no murders in four years? Why put himself at risk of a new investigation, if he'd apparently got away scot-free?
It's not even a new murder, it's an old one. This smacks to me of someone knowing what Church was up to, and where he hid the bodies. Someone is just trying to muddy the waters to aid this civil suit.

>4 Sergeirocks: I knew that this was one question that we were going to all have very different views of and probably some very good discussions...Good job QuestionMaster! I can easily see your point and it is indeed a valid one. I based my answer on the that he had his notoriety and maybe didn't feel he needed the "pleasure that killing obviously gave him...or he has been killing all along and hiding the bodies very well. The woman in the concrete wouldn't have been found if the building hadn't been being demolished. This is going to be fun friends.

I felt a strong chance the note was from the Dollmaker but then where has the Dollmaker been these last four years. A serial killer doesn’t just stop killing. Copycat? Possibly. Also why the difference in the bodies, why was this one buried and bot displayed. Jury is definitely out on this.

I think it might be from the Dollmaker. I don't know why he might have been out of touch for so long, or if he is a cooycat. If the makeup in Church's room matched that left on the victims, then he must be involved in some way, even if he isn't the Dollmaker.

>5 Carol420: The unraveling of this one is certainly going to be very interesting, 🙂.

Intriguing! It certainly seems to be from the Dollmaker. The tone of the note, the victim having the cross painted on her toenail-detail not disclosed to the public, etc.... it’s possible it’s someone who was closely connected to the dollmaker, but i still think it’s the real deal. I agree that it makes no sense he went quiet for all this time and pops up conveniently the day the trial starts. Perhaps he was incarcerated for another crime and was recently released?? I don’t know, but i look forward to finding out!

It seems to be timed too well. Maybe a copycat? Or the dollmaker was in jail and just got out? Moved to another state? Serial killers don't stop unless incapacitated.

I don’t think it’s the Dollmaker. I think Church was the Dollmaker and this note is from someone who knew what Church was up to and was able to recreate the kill. Or, since this one was buried vs displayed, it could have been one of Dollmaker’s early kills before he was looking for the notoriety. We need to find out when the woman was actually killed and who she is to see if there really is a connection.

>6 Andrew-theQM: if the note was from the Dollmaker and he went dormant for 4 years, I would suspect that he’d been in prison or institutionalized. As you said, serial killers don’t just stop
