Why would Harry think but not say I love you to Sylvia?

He's not made that way. Expressing love stands the chance of getting him hurt...and I think he feels those words would give her the idea that something more is going to happen for them...which he doesn't seem ready for at this point. Just call me Ann Landers:)

He's obviously repressed.

He 's never known romantic love. He has no idea how it works.

I think Harry is emotionally disabled and doesn't like to show his emotions.

Harry just doesn't talk about his feelings. He is a loner and not used to a serious relationship. Saying it out loud would change everything for him.
