Did Chief Irving from IAD help Bosch’s case?

I'd say his testimony was neutral. He certainly didn't hang Bosch out to dry, which he could have tried to do given his personal animosity towards Bosch.

I don't think Chief Irving has any great love for Harry...but he does respect him and he did try not to do anymore damage. He believes Harry because he knows how Harry was thinking when this entire shooting took place. As a cop he knew that he would/could have done exactly the same thing. Believe me...if IAD had really wanted to hang him out to dry he would already be on the clothes line.

I think he told the truth. It didn't help Harry but it wasn't too damaging either. Despite his disapproval of Harry, he didn't make it personal.

I don't think Chief Irving did Harry any favors but he didn't deliberately try to harm him either.

I don't feel that his testimony did anything to help or hinder Harry.
