Why was Edgar taken off the case? Why do you think he told Harry to watch his back?

Probably because he's too close to Harry...but police officers are switched around on a regular basis especially in large departments like Los Angeles. My husband liked working Vice and was surprised that they kept him in the same division with the same partner for 5 years. That was in Tampa...not as big as Los Angeles but still big.

Because Edgar and Harry were partners they figured that Edgar would be too eager to help Harry and that would be a conflict of interest.

I thought they took the case away in attempt to keep a lid on it for the time being.
I don't know who Edgar is trying to warn Bosch against.

I'm completely lost without any ideas.

I think they took it from Edgar and gave it to RHD because they expected it to be high profile and those are typically handled by RHD. Also, this keeps the info out of the squad that Harry is currently assigned to and where he has people that may want to “help” him more than they should.

While Harry isn't a popular guy he does have some friends and Edgar is one. They probably don't want him to "accidentally" give Harry any inside information.

I found it odd he was pulled off the case...and then he sent a warning message to Harry. Makes me wonder if a superior is involved, but not sure who or why...
