Did Honey Chandler make a mistake in her closing statement? Could that cost her the trial? Why do you think she did it?

I think she did it on purpose. Why... I don't know, but she's not that stupid. She's shown that all the way through this dog and pony show.

It could cost her the trial. Maybe she feels like she is going to lose when the real truth comes out and she just gave up the ship! Not our boat but the one she's on now!

>3 EadieB: She can just stay OFF our boat...and leave our cookies alone.

>4 Carol420: She better not touch our cookies.

I don’t think it was a mistake - I think it was a calculated risk on her part. Despite instructions, the jury is not going to “unhear” what was said no matter how strongly the judge tells them to ignore it. She hopes that she’ll end up being okay with the Bar and won’t get sanctioned and that whatever she makes in fees (and award) will make up for any fines she may need to pay

>8 bhabeck: Agreed. It's a sharp metal spatula.

I agree with Carol (>2 Carol420:), this was done on purpose; Chandler does not make mistakes.
At the time of reading, I thought she realised Bosch had her over a barrel with the note from the killer, and she was trying to lose the case in the hope of making him back off.

I think she did it on purpose. Once the jury hears something they can choose to disregard it, but they can't unhear it. It may still affect their thinking when they are making their decision.

I agree she did it on purpose.however, I don’t think she anticipated the judge’s strong reaction. He’s been siding with her so much during this case it seemed like he was a bit of a pushover. She may have thought he’d let it go with just a small slap on the wrist. I wonder why the judge turned so. Maybe he realized he put Bosch in an impossible position by not granting a postponement.?
