The Other Side of the Coin - Sent books not reviewed

I have seen a number of posts to this forum complaining that books won in Author Giveaways are not sent as promised. I think that is unconscionable. However, last June I posted an offer for 25 copies of my first book "Grandmother's Devil & Other Tempting Tales." There were over 100 requests for this book and I sent out the promised 25 copies to winners the same day I received the list from LibraryThing. While I understand that there could be no formal quid pro quo of a review for a book on LibraryThing, I am disappointed that a month and a half later, only three individuals who received free copies have posted a review here (two were cross-posted to Amazon/Goodreads). I am grateful for those reviews and where it has been possible I have communicated that to the readers. In truth, none of those reviews was a rave. But, for first-time authors, a short review from readers who have no particular axe to grind can be incredibly important. Thoughtful reviews help us understand what we might do better. But free books are not free to me. Going forward, inevitably I must consider whether the return is worth the cost. I will not re-offer the book in the Member Giveaway section, but if anyone reading this post would like a review copy of "Grandmother's Devil & Other Tempting Tales" I will be happy to send one your way in return for a short review. This offer is good until August 15, 2020. You can contact me at marty@martystories.com or through the book's webpage https://grandmothersdevil.com.
