Here is a link to a scholarly review of the three available translations for this novel. In summary, the one EP reprints is a pretty good edition, not the best perhaps, but better than the ones I’ve seen for most other Jules Verne novels. The reviewer also notes the inclusion of many fine illustrations from the original French edition.

Note: The 1873 date in the EP description is incorrect, as Verne did not publish his French edition until 1892. The correct date of the first English translation is 1893.

I've been waiting for a new Verne, glad it is happening very soon.

No hand marbled end papers to match Around the World in 80 Days. Hand Marbled end pages make the book look amazing and only cost about $5 per sheet...I have purchased a sample book from Crepaldi. Side note, I recommend this sample book to anyone. Its really cool.

It is a fairly small book, so perhaps the clamshell wouldn't look good.

>5 cu29640: Yes, I liked the hand marbled end sheets in 80 Days. I wish Easton Press would do this more often. It has been some time since they last had an edition with marbled end papers.

>6 Wootle: I'm glad you pointed that out. I hadn't realized it was that small.

Is it just me, or do the pictures of the illustrations look like they have very bad reproduction quality. I look forward to someone's opinion if they order a copy.

I ordered right away, anxiously awaiting. I'm very much enjoying all of these Verne's from the last couple of years.

"Now accepting orders. This product will ship by Oct 01."

That didn't happen.

They forgot to translate it to English.

It has reappeared on the DLE page with the note “THIS PRODUCT IS CURRENTLY OUT OF STOCK.“ The add-to-cart button is greyed out. Maybe Verne is updating it.

I blame this delay on >4 supercell: for noticing the slipcase vs box. Now they are having to produce boxes instead.

It arrived today. Not much larger than a MMPB I'm afraid. The endpapers are marbled not fabric as stated in the ad. I'll get pictures in the album in the next few days as time permits.

I guess someone at EP is watching us...I know I've seen multiple requests here for marbled end papers over the standard moire.

>16 Wootle: Actual hand marbled end papers, or just printed marbling? Around the World in 80 days has beautiful paper. I'd like a book along those lines, even if this is small.

Printed marbled endpapers. New photos in the album.

>20 Wootle: I appreciate your love of Jules Verne. One of the great regrets in my life was not purchasing the COMPLETE Jules Verne in 100% powder blue leather, gorgeous gilded spine and cover design, hubbed spines, marbled end pages, with profuse Victorian quality lithographs. It was pristine quality but it was $300 in 1975 ($1,500 in 2020) and I was a poor graduate student. And the set was larger (about 6 x 9) than this new paperback size volume.
