I don't know if this idea has already been discussed somewhere, or if it already exists and I just can't find it - apologies if I'm just missing it. Is there a way to see which venues in a given city (or other limited geographic area) have been marked as favorites by the most users? I'm going to Seattle for several days in June, and want to squeeze in a trip to at least one used book store. While comparing store websites (linked from LT Local) will give me some help, along with any other info on the LT Local pages, I'd REALLY like to know which stores are "most favorited" by LT users. Is this info already noted somewhere, or is it already planned for future? Thanks in advance for any info that's available!

I don't know if this feature is available. It sure would be helpful. In the meantime, there is a Seattle group http://www.librarything.com/groups/seattleites and from experience I would say any used book store that survives in Seattle is probably good. The competition is big.

I think Twice Told Tales is pretty big and I like the Couth Buzzard.

Hope you enjoy Seattle.

I've mentioned it before, and Chris said it could happen eventually, but it unfortunately doesn't seem like much of a priority.

I think it's a great idea.

For example, our Bookcrossing group is seriously exploring doing a convention in Washington, DC. It would be nice to know what store(s) in our area are most favorited by others. I know which stores I like, but that's not enough.

Currently, looking at any particular bookstore shows the members who have made that venue a favorite. Beyond that, members who really like a bookstore can add comments to encourage patronage there.

I still think this is a critical feature that Local needs. As is, I pretty much never use Local. It would be nice if I could at least check for popular bookstores when travelling. I'm not going to bother clicking on every bookstore in a city to count for myself.

Before we had Local, members were posting their favorites in the Favorite Bookstores group. Most of those posts are now dormant.

Any bookstore list for Seattle would have to include Elliott Bay Book Company. Third Avenue Books (multiple locations) is also a favorite for many. And check this thread for an enthusiastic recommendation for Wessel & Lieberman.
