I'm a guy, but I've got an assignment in a creative writing class to read a few examples of Chick Lit and then write a short story in that style/genre.

Any suggestions for books to get started, or even better, some collections of short stories that can show different authors and styles?

Thanks

Alex

Hm, I've read a few anthologies of short stories by chicklit writers (e.g., Girls Night In) and in my opinion many of the stories didn't reflect the same style I've read in their popular books... Your best bet is probably to check out the bestselling lists in the genre at a bookstore or amazon as they must be popular for a reason!

Personally I find Jill Manssell, Jane Green, Sophie Kinsella and Katie Fforde to be great examples of what I'd consider chick lit.
