Books similar (but shorter) to Neal Stephenson's Baroque Cycle

I love Neal Stephenson and his books, like Cryptonomicon and the Baroque Cycle. But they are long and dense, and sometimes you just need something lighter that is not stupid. Any good recommendation?

I'd like to recommend LX Beckett's Gamechanger. It's still a long book, but it's in the same vein as Stephenson without being quite as complex and exhausting.
