I'm in. It's already Friday evening and I'm away from home for the long weekend, in Wellington, NZ.
Been reading a children's book, Amos Fortune, Free Man by Elizabeth Yates. Now will pick up my overdue library book, Paris by Starlight by Robert Dinsdale.

I'm also in again.
Friday evening and I have a few lined up to make progress with this weekend.
At Bertram's Hotel by Agatha Christie
The Tin Drum by Gunter Grass
The Girl with the Louding Voice by Abi Dare
Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch
and
Bury the Dead by Peter Carter
I probably won't finish them all but I hope to make a good dent in them.

I've started off the challenge by reading The Velvet Rope Economy by Nelson Schwarz.
Other nonfiction titles on my list are the audiobook of The Kidnapping Club by Jonathan Daniel Wells, The Anarchy by William Dalrymple and an e-galley of The Nine by Gwen Strauss.
On the fiction side, the list is even more diverse. I've started reading Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell, at last. I also want to get going on Homeland Elegies by Ayed Akhtar. I've been reading more light/genre fiction that that probably will continue with another book in Elizabeth Aston's "Darcy" Regency novels (the one I haven't yet read, The Bad Muslim Discount by Syed Massoud, The Historians by Cecilia Eckbäck and possibly the e-galley of the upcoming thriller by Henry Porter I just got. I have Leave the World Behind, by Rumaan Alan, from the Athenaeum, which I should read and return. The lovely folks at Europa sent me two books, including Cathedral by Ben Hopkins. Knopf unexpectedly sent me hardcovers of two books, and I may read Consent by Annabel Lyon. Then I have a few unfinished books, like Places in the Darkness by Chris Brookmyre and The Sisters Grimm by Menna van Praag.
Spoiled for choice. Oh, and I have work to do. Phone calls to make and prepare for. And I have to go to the Athenaeum to pick up a book that's on hold and now that it's open for browsing, check out what I might be missing!
The only thing missing are the energy and hours required....

While I had some reading done prior to 5 p.m., I may not get much in tonight. I'm hosting a Zoom genealogy chat tonight--and those tend to run late. I might get a half-hour or so before bedtime. I should begin in the morning with most of my reading, but I'll have an interruption for a 2-hour webinar, but I should get back to reading. I have church, the Kitten Bowl, and a book club on Sunday, but I hope to squeeze a little reading in then as well.

Just coffee so far this morning.
Other activity:

Well, I've really been slow to get to reading. I did a little reading last night and a little bit this morning.
Books read from: A Promised Land, The Vanishing Half, Devil in a Blue Dress
Books finished: 0
Pages read: 93
Time reading: 2 hours
Time posting: several hours lurking on threads
Snacks: chick pea and lemon soup, apple
Thoughts: I spent a little time yesterday reading threads and got completely sidetracked by Paul C's list of his top 100 books of the 21st century. Instead of reading I embarked on a list project of my own.
Non-book activities: yoga, farmer's market, tv, phone call with my sister
Total books finished: 0
Total read from: 3
Total time reading: 2 hours
I will not have much time to read until this evening because I have two outdoor gatherings with friends this afternoon, taking advantage of the nice weather. (Almost 50 today)

I'm away from home this weekend and the last two days were busy with family history research. Should have more reading time today.
I managed to visit a few used bookshops here in Wellington, I have a couple of favourites but also managed to finally visit Des Schollum's House of Books, in Lower Hutt near a cemetery I had just been to.
Yes, I bought some books.

Books finished: 0
Time reading: 3 hours
Time posting: 5 mins
Snacks: Cereal
Thoughts: Why is it so hard to focus on anything?
Non-book activities: Went to Athenaeum to pick up the book they had on hold for me, and since they are open for browsing for now, picked up MORE books. And a DVD, "Berlin Station". I can return the audiobook of The Kidnapping Club (the story is fascinating but the narrator is making me completely nuts) and read the library version. Then took an Uber out to my friend's place to pick up multiple giant bags of donated kitty litter. They have small rips in them (now sealed up with tape) so they ended up being donated to Rita, who regifted them to me! Now home again and waiting for the next winter storm to start tonight/tomorrow. We have another winter storm warning in effect, starting at dawn. Second one in a week.

Got off to a bit of late start on reading this weekend, trying to frontload everything else I have to do because there's a windstorm in the forecast, which can mean power outages. I'm hoping that by being very prepared, with all laundry done, all flashlights battery'ed, and all devices fully charged, maybe luck will be such that the power stays on.

Luci in London UK here, currently on Greenwich Mean Time (until the end of next month when our clocks go forward an hour) so it's very late at night here.
Books read from since 5 pm on Friday: 6
Elly Griffiths, The Night Hawks
Sita Brahmachari, Tender Earth
Penelope Lively, Pack of Cards
Jane Smiley, Golden Age
Laura McVeigh, Under the Almond Tree
Colson Whitehead, The Nickel Boys
Books finished: 0
Thoughts: The Night Hawks is set in autumn 2019 (from September) but clearly written in 2020. Ruth, the main series character, is an academic, and attends a seminar on virtual learning and the use of Zoom. As if worrying about real family and friends isn't enough. I'm now worrying about how fictional characters are coping with life now.....
Non-book activities: Dozing, radio, Bejeweled Blitz

Snacks: went for my usual Sunday morning Starbucks run to get a cappuccino and a croissant and my work colleague was in line right in front of me. I recognized her new car so we shouted out greetings while in the line.
Thoughts: I read quite a bit in Bruno Chief of Police last night. The author took three full chapters to set up the series and I appreciate that. I just got to the murder right before I shut off the light. I did not sleep well. I had my second Covid shot and I can tell. I am achy. I hope that I don't get a full blown reaction to it like I did when I got the first one. That was a dousey. My 85 year-old mother got the first Moderna shot and ended up in the hospital. She had Covid in December and shouldn't have gotten the shot for 90 days, but somebody flubbed and allowed her to get it. Her doctor instructed her that before she gets the already schedule second shot she MUST talk to him. I was angry because I had told her that she shouldn't get a shot for 90 days, but the County Health Nurse told her differently. Unfortunately for her, she choose to believe the County Health Nurse, because "she's a professional." My mother was right - but also wrong. I am simply bewildered. Didn't anybody bother to read the CDC guidelines? Right now I am headed to the bathtub for a nice long soak in hot water and Epsom salts. I plan on doing nothing work related today. (Let's see how long I stick with that one?). I spent a great deal of time updating my book diary last night and this morning. I am way behind and had to put all of January's entries into it.

I read another 79 pages today. It doesn't seem like very much, Hoping I can finish Tender Earth in the next few days and make big dents in some of the others. Golden Age will be the next book to reach the top of the pile, and is a very long book at 705 pages so may take some time after that!
The Penelope Lively short story collection suggestions publication dates as 1978 to 1986. I was growing up in those years from 8-17 (birthday is mid-year) - granted this is some years ago but the settings of some of the stories, the attitudes of the characters etc, seem more old fashioned etc than that in terms of attitudes to race, class, gender roles.

Snacks: Lunch was Indian food.
Thoughts: I worked on my book diary and almost caught up on it while I watched my Sunday night PBS shows. I am excited about the start of Stanley Tucci's new show on Italian food. that starts next Sunday on CNN. It was a lazy day. I only managed to wash on load of clothes. Oh well - there is tomorrow. I will see how I feel.

weekend wrap-up
books:
on the last pages of the miller's dance.
I think a cozy mystery will be next - by book or by crook, and maybe dark fever by Karen Moning.
Good eats on Sunday:
pancakes for breakfast. (my little granddaughter likes this picture book; we all love Tomie DePaola!)
lunch was a ban mi sandwich from a favorite Vietnamese place.
dinner: garden salad, leftover spaghetti, choc chip cookies.
other activity:
Sunday papers, laundry, watched all creatures great and small and the long song. I only just realized this 2nd one, about the end of slavery in Jamaica, is based on a novel.
thoughts:
I've been doing weekend read-a-thons for 8 months, since end of May.
Thinking of a road trip around mid-April. National Park loop? Mississippi? (never been there)
