Hi all,
I don't know if this is an active group or not, but the title intrigued me.
As an ex-librarian, living near Sydney (Blue Mountains actually) I have been a Library Thinger for many years, mostly participating in groups such as "75 books challenge for 2022".
I do read many Australian authors, both fiction and non-fiction and would welcome any book reviews of Australian interest.
Have lately read several books by Tom Keneally, but also love books by Richard Flanagan, Peter Corris, Hannah Kent and many others.

>3 noellib: Hello Noel, we had a bit of a chat - it was years ago now - after the fires in the Blue Mountains. I'm just following up (now) with LibraryThing members in the flood affected areas of NSW and Qld to see if there's anything we can do to help. I'd note though that most people will still be in clean-up mode and putting libraries back together will come later. Still, it's a chance to offer some moral support and hold out the hope that LibraryThing members might be able to replace a hard to find book here and there.
I see the Lismore Library is putting out a big call for donations of new books or money - I think money really. I'm all for community action but I'm more inclined to suggest people write to the Qld, NSW and Federal Government to 'not forget the arts' when they allocated relief funds - on the basis that libraries in particular are community hubs that play their part in community recovery and resilience.
Best regards, John Mack (Nandadevi)

I've been interested in Australia since I saw the 20th century international film The Last Wave. Since then, my readings on or about Australia have stacked up; it's a fascinating continent.

Hi All
Just joined this group but not sure about what that involves. (What happens within groups in Library thing) Have been a member for many years now but having recently retired I hope to get back to reading a lot more books in the future. I was recently at the last book launch gathering in Huskisson (south coast of NSW) for Gina Chick's book We are the Stars. Gina is the woman who won the first Alone Australia season on SBS and her autobiography is like nothing else I have ever read.

>7 doopster: Hi and welcome! Being a member of this group or any other on LT commits you to absolutely nothing. Read whatever you want, post about it if you like, here or elsewhere on LT, and be as sociable (or not) as you wish. Basically, LT Talk is for chatting about books, but it isn't limited to that — you can chat about anything else you want, within the terms of service.
