A Fire in the Night by Christopher Swann is a great thriller. The reader follows history professor Nick Anthony as he tries to unravel the death of his estranged brother. Teaming up with a niece he never knew existed, the reader is taken on the journey to find out his brother’s secrets.
The book was enjoyable but leaves the reader wanting more depth to the characters. While Nick is more fully developed, many characters presented are very thin.
However, the narrative moves briskly and you are quickly engrossed in cat and mouse game presented as Nick and his niece are presented with challenges.
All-in-all it’s a fast paced enjoyable thriller where the reader should just let the book take them on a ride. 4 stars.
