New series not showing in 'Series' column in 'Your books'

I created a series called Essential Cookbooks about 25 hours ago. Since the books are by one publisher but different authors, I marked it as a publisher's series. I have two books in the series but neither are showing a series under the 'Series' column in my catalogue. Do publishers' series not show up in the column?

ETA: the series name is not showing on the book page either.

Do you want over twenty publishers series showing there for Anne of Green Gables?

It is there in the work page - just look lower - where all publisher series are.

That’s intentional. Publisher series are not part of the work record per se - one copy of the book belongs to it, another does not. If you have Emma would you like all those publisher series at the top and in the series field? Probably not - some of them won’t even match the language of your edition let alone the actual series it belongs to.

Series on the other hand belong to each edition of the book - and that’s why they get better visibility on a page.

>1 libraian: PS: single author is not a requirement for something to be a series. If those books were published specifically in this series and were never printed outside of it, this will be a regular series. But if they had been reprinted or translated in other editions, they are indeed a Publisher series and they won’t show up at the top of the screen in the work or in the Series field in your catalog.

>4 AnnieMod: Glancing at it, it looks like a 'proper' series to me, the books seem specific to this series and publisher.

>5 anglemark: Possibly - that’s why I explained what will make it a real series and why. :) It does look as a real series on first glance indeed

There used to be an explanation of the difference easily available, but I have no idea where to look for that now.

Ah, I see; now I understand what a Publisher's series is.

So it's okay to go ahead and make it a series rather than a publisher series?

>9 libraian: If the books have not been published elsewhere, yes. Go ahead.

How can I create a relationship between a series and a publisher's series? I'm looking at the Asterix and Asterix omnibus series.

>11 libraian: You can't. Relationships work only on the same level, unfortunately. so to create a relationship both need to be either series or publisher series.

>12 SandraArdnas: And I suppose if I make them the same, create the relationship and then change them back again the relationship will disappear?

>13 libraian: You'll be told you can't make the change due to the relationship and be forced to remove the relationship to move it back.

Those are set up in that way because they are not intended to be linked.
