Project Hail Mary discussion

I’m listening to the audio and probably have some questions and comments.

1. How did Rocky, the Eridian, come up with oxygen after a first analysis? The atmosphere would be majorly Nitrogen from the spaceship, yes?

2. Showing an analog clock to Rocky should possibly teach him about counting time; but wouldn’t it confuse him into inferring a base 12 arithmetic?

Chapter 20 - Aw, shit!!!

I'm probably going to have to read this again to refresh my memory. I have no answers to your questions/comments because my brain just never bends that way when I'm reading science fiction.

It was the end of chapter 19 that was so SO distressing.
And yeah, this is The Martian all over again.😋

Wait a minute! The Eridians don’t have transistor technology?!!!! And we didn’t either until after our first several space launches…

Also, I’ve lost track of the main airlock location.

And Rocky has built a tunnel for himself that gives access to all three parts of the living quarters, but the access hatch is from the dormitory?

Okay. Blip-A, Rocky’s ship, is far away. Yet he can still design and manufacture Xenonite materials apparently with no limits. He’s now built structural repairs for the Hail Mary.
