After really falling down on reading and posting in 2021, I'm back to try again in 2022! I had one of my best reading years in 2020 with 89 books but last year I was at 51. Back to work full-time in-person, sports, and I met a guy! So reading has been a bit on the back burner. I did also read some longer books that took more time.

Hi, I'm Jenny. I'm a second-grade teacher in Michigan. I read a little bit of everything, but tend toward ya, mysteries, and historical fiction, with more and more fantasy creeping in. I read almost everything from the library, and I find lots of books just by browsing the shelves. Outside of reading, I'm a big sports fan. I love my Michigan State Spartans, and I'm interested in watching any kind of sport.

1. Donut Fall in Love- January 7
Ryan is an up-and-coming actor, and Lindsay co-owns a bakery. Classic rom com meet and relationship. It was a good read, but not as good as others I've read recently.

Glad you're back this year! Hope the rest of the school year goes as smoothly as possible for you, that things go well on the relationship front, and that you have plenty of good reads in 2022!

2. The Summer I Turned Pretty- January 11
Belly and her family always spend summers at the beach with her mom's best friend's family. The summer she turns 16 keeps her on her toes. There are lots of similarities with To All the Boys I've Loved Before and I liked that one better, but it works!

3. It's Not Summer Without You- January 13
Second in the series. This book explores so more serious themes but is also pretty dramatic. I'm not sure the "which brother do I love" problem is my favorite.

4. We'll Always Have Summer- January 15
This was a lot of drama. Too much drama for me.

6. I was Told it Would Get Easier- February 3
Two snow days in a row helped me finally finish a book. I've been reading parts of a few and got through one!

Split narrative between a mother, Jessica, and her 16 year-old daughter Emily. They are on an East Coast college tour. The book starts well, but the ending was so sudden and bizarre. It seemed to wrap up too quickly for how laid-out the beginning and middle were, and the FBI part was so unexpected and confusing. I still don't know who was in the cheating ring. It's like that was just there to create confusion and then disappeared. Was it the guide? I'm not sure . I liked a lot of the characters, but their life situations were hard for me to relate to. I did like the focus on the mother/daughter relationship. It was an okay read.

I was looking back for new books by authors I've read before. The Bookish Life of Nina Hill was definitely a book I liked more than this. I would still try other books she writes.
