Travels With my Aunt by Graham Greene 2004

This book is an absolute hoot! Classic British humour with a side of risqué naughtiness and a touch of adventure.

A retired banker in his 50s meets up with his very eccentric long-lost aunt and is drawn out of his humdrum suburban existence into a life of mystery and exotic adventure. There is absolutely no point to the story other than complete entertainment, making it a delightful and easy read.

Bound in grey-green cloth blocked with a colour cover design, the 267 page book contains nine full page colour illustrations by John Holder. There is a six page introduction by John Mortimer. The endpapers are cream and the light green slipcase measures 23.7x15.7cm.

There are numerous chapter end vignettes as well. I often photograph both the first and last pages of the books I review, but in this case reading the last page would spoil the story, so the review ends with the vignette at the end of the final chapter.

>1 wcarter: thanks for this beautifully illustrated article.
I also picked this up second hand for about £5 a couple of years ago and agree that there are gentle laughs on nearly every page. First published in 1969 so that the British manners of which fun is poked are dated, but still recognisable as those of my parents.
