Count me in again.

Just finished Waiting for Eden by Ackerman and it took a lot out of me.
A devastating story that will haunt me for a long time.

Hope to finish my audio book, Conspiracy in Belgravia this weekend.
I listened to it when I took a long walk this evening.

Friday noon update
Books Read From: I am reading Unto Us A Son Is Given by Donna Leon for my LT mystery read-along group. I read a little in Unwarranted: Policing Without Permission by Barry Friedman. I started Travels In Vermeer: A Memoir by Michael White. I started listening to 32 Yolks: From My Mother's Table to Working the Line by Eric Ripert.

Books finished in this week's Readathon: Siege of Krishnapur by J. G. Farrell and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling
Time reading: 1 hour this morning
Time posting:
Food: an orange for breakfast and left-over chicken fried rice for lunch
Thoughts: I had requested 32 Yolks in the recorded version so that I could listen to it while traveling back and forth for Spring Break, but it didn't get here until Monday (the day after Spring Break), but I decided to go ahead and listen to it anyway. It is short - 6 CD's. I like to read about famous chefs and this book falls right into that category. The first time I saw Ripert was when he did a guest appearance on the Martha Stewart Show. I thought he was interesting and so when I discovered that he had a memoir I decided to make it one of my nonfiction reads for this year.
Non-Book Activities: I am once again sitting in a Starbucks. This time in Tuscaloosa. I am convalescing from my minor surgery the other day so have a couple of days off. If they don't mind looking at the stitches on my face I don't mind sitting here. Actually the stitches aren't bad and hardly noticable. They do twinge from time-to-time. I should be back to work on Monday.

Time reading: 2 hours today
Time posting:
Food: Indian food at the local Indian restaurant for lunch and my Sunday morning cappuccino from Starbucks.
Thoughts: It is a beautiful day in Tuscaloosa and I don't feel like doing anything. I did cook some red rice and quinoa to make a salad for this coming week and baked a loaf of bread in the bread machine last night. That bread was baking about 3 AM and the smell of it was so powerful that it woke me up. I confess it was very pleasant to wake to the smell of baking bread. I did a load of laundry this morning as well, so maybe I was more productive than I think I was. Call the Midwife starts tonight. That, along with the Oscars, and all those wonderful clothes will mean that I will have a pleasant evening.

Weekend wrap-up

Books:
Finished Ransom by Lois Duncan. Started We All Fall Down by Robert Cormier.
I'm presently choosing short ones from the TBR shelves to read and then add to my Little Free Library.
Also skimming through The Blood Sugar Solution.

Food:
Family picnic at the lake on Sunday. My nephew grilled brats and hotdogs. Dinner was leftovers.
Only coffee so far this morning.

Thoughts:
I should seriously consider reducing coffee intake. I make it with half decaf but still drink too much.
I'm a little grumpy this morning as someone in the household turned off the strong setting on my pot and my coffee tastes like dishwater. : \

Books finished in this week's Readathon: The Maid by Nita Prose, Unto Us A Son Is Given by Donna Leon. Siege of Krishnapur by J. G. Farrell and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling
Time reading: 2 hours on Sunday evening and night
Time posting:
Food: chex mix while watching the Academy Awards
Thoughts: It was a good reading weekend. I didn't get my taxes done, but I read 2 books and got a good start on a third. I picked up The Maid because it was a hold at the public library. It is so popular that there is a long waiting list for it, so I only had 10 days to read it. I started it on Friday night and finished it Sunday afternoon. It was a great weekend read.
Non-Book Activities: I watched most of the Academy Awards and loved looking at the clothes. I also watched the first episode of Season 11 of Call the Midwife and the first episode of the first season of The Indian Doctor. Sometimes I just love PBS.
