Sisters in Crime is an international organisation with a strong Australian Branch whose mission is to promote Australian women's crime writing. They host events and discussions, publish book reviews and share podcasts and blogs, and provide a forum for networking between writers and publishers - and readers. Sisters in Crime honour the best published crime books in Australia in six categories with the annual Davitt Awards named after Ellen Davitt (1812-1879) who wrote Australia’s first mystery novel, Force and Fraud, in 1865. They also offer the Scarlett Stiletto Award for the best women's short crime story.
