It will be a busy weekend with Easter preparations so I'm not sure how much reading time I'll have. I'll join in as I'm able.

I have a lot on the agenda this weekend, but I'm sure I'll read a little--It just might not be a lot.

I am definitely in this weekend, Silver!

This is going to be the first weekend I have not worked in several weekends and I intend to spend the time reading and relaxing. So I am in for the weekend.

As long as the more temperate weather holds I'll be in the yard for much of the weekend, doing chores. Once the heat hits I'll be inside more...and books are inside...

I will be doing some reading this weekend. I am not reading as many books as I have in the past but I am enjoying my reads!

Yes! I’m in. I had a half-day yesterday, which I spent watching TV. Now I have four full days off (Friday-Monday) and plan to spend them reading, knitting and watching more TV.
Planned reading materials:
Vile Bodies by Evelyn Waugh (which needs to go back to the library)
The Triumph of the Scarlet Pimpernel by Emmuska Orczy (which also needs to go back to the library)
and South Riding by Winifred Holtby (which I just got from the library)

Books Read From: Patriarch by Martin Walker. Unwarranted: Policing Without Permission by Barry Friedman. Gunpowder Gardens: Travels Through India and China in Search of Tea by Jason Goodwin.
Books finished in this week's Readathon: Harlem Shuffle by Colson Whitehead
Thoughts: I have a nice quiet weekend planned and plan to spend most of it with books. My only project is to do my spring cleaning in the bathroom. I am getting ready to have some plumbing work done in there and I want it clean. I have several books lined up to read this weekend and hope to have the time to just sit and read them.
Time reading: 1 hour at lunch.
Time posting:
Food: I will be doing a little baking as well. I haven't decided what I will bake but it will be something with raisins, since I have a boatload of raisins to use up.
Non-Book Activities: None yet, since I am still at work.
Total books finished since the Read-A-Thon Began: 218
Total Time Reading since the Social Distancing read-a-thon began: 589 hours since I started participating in the Read-A-Thon that started in April 2020.

My first of the weekend!

Nature From Your Back Door by Glenn Dudderar
Delightful collection of columns written to educate the Michigan public about animals found in a suburban environment. I learned a few things as well.

You finished two good books. I'll have to check over on your thread about your reactions to these books. You will have to read the sequel to War That Saved My Life. It is as good as the first one.

Saturday noon posting update:
Books Read From: Hera: The Goddess and Her Glory and Zeus: King of the Gods both by George O'Connor. Patriarch by Martin Walker. Unwarranted: Policing Without Permission by Barry Friedman. Gunpowder Gardens: Travels Through India and China in Search of Tea by Jason Goodwin. I am listening to The Ask and the Answer by Patrick Ness
Books finished in this week's Readathon: Harlem Shuffle by Colson Whitehead. Hera: The Goddess and Her Glory by George O'Connor.
Thoughts: I heard a review of this series of graphic novels on the Gods of Olympus on NPR last week and knew that we had them in our collection at the library. I picked one up Poseidon: Earth Shaker and found it to be an interesting take on the Greek Gods, so I went back to the shelves and started reading the graphic novel series. I am not a big graphic novel fan, but I liked the first one want to read more of them. I read quite a bit in Gunpowder Gardens and am finding it a very interesting, but in many ways, standard travel book. Very relaxing to read.
Time reading: 1 hour
Time posting:
Food: I will be doing a little baking as well. I haven't decided what I will bake but it will be something with raisins, since I have a boatload of raisins to use up.
Non-Book Activities: I am going to do so some spring cleaning in my bathroom. I want to have some plumbing work done so need to do some cleaning in preparation for that anyway. I am also going to bake another batch of oatmeal cookies and apple muffins. It has taken me a week but I have managed to eat my way through the muffins, and I have eaten and given away most of the cookies. Last night when I went to turn off my bedside lamp the switch broke off, so now I will have to go to Home Depot and get a switch so I can repair this one. That only adds to the afternoon's list of things-to-do. I could go buy a new lamp but I like this one and so will try to repair it. If that fails I will have to find somebody to repair it for me.

Thoughts: I read for over and hour at supper and I am close to finishing Gunpowder Gardens. I am enjoying this book a whole lot. It is standard travel book fare but I like those kinds of books. They often provide great insight about countries and places.

Time posting:
Food: I did no baking today. That will have to wait for tomorrow. I did get a large portion of my bathroom cleaning done. I also got all of my shopping done. This did not help my bank balance any. Sunday night posting update:
Books Read From: Zeus: King of the Gods by George O'Connor. Patriarch by Martin Walker. Unwarranted: Policing Without Permission by Barry Friedman. Atlas of the Heart: Mapping Meaningful Connection and the Language of Human Experience by Brene Brown. Gunpowder Gardens: Travels Through India and China in Search of Tea by Jason Goodwin. I am listening to The Ask and the Answer by Patrick Ness.
Books finished in this week's Readathon: Zeus: King of the Gods by George O'Connor. Gunpowder Gardens: Travels Through Indian and China in Search of Tea by Jason Goodwin. Hera: the Goddess and Her Glory by George O'Connor. Harlem Shuffle by Colson Whitehead.
Book Thoughts: I didn't get as much reading done this weekend as I thought I would. However, I was productive in other ways. I did finish another book in the Olympians graphic novel series, and I finished Gunpowder Gardens. I really enjoyed Gunpowder Gardens - it was my kind of travel book because there was a great deal of history and culture in it. It was about tea and there is so much I don't know about this fascinating plant and the culture of tea drinking.
Time reading: 0 hours reading on Sunday, but will read some before I go to sleep tonight.
Time posting:
Food: I had a nice turkey breast lunch with my former supervisor. We had good conversation and bad coffee. I got to use one of her demitasse spoons to stir my coffee. She must have a hundred of those little spoons and I just love them. They are so cute! But really rather useless - sort of like all those tea accoutrements that Jason Goodwin inherited from his grandparents (on both sides of his family) that started him on his tea quest.
Nonbook activities: I had a productive day yesterday. Cleaned the bathroom and wouldn't you know it - I was out of so many cleaning supplies so I had to add them to the weekend shopping list. That also added another stop on my shopping trip. I Washed the shower curtain and rehung it. I got all of my shopping done in the rain yesterday and was so tired by nightfall that I braved the football weekend crowds and went to Taco Casa and had three tacos for supper. My productivity at home continued today. I got up this morning and went to church. My former boss invited me to her house for Easter Dinner and we had a great time together. Then I came home and baked cookies and made another batch of apple muffins. I should be set for the week as far as food goes. It was a very nice weekend. To bad it wasn't a holiday weekend in Alabama.
