I don't know if I'll be able to post, but I'll be listening to Trace Elements by Donna Leon as I drive to Atlanta on Saturday. I'll also manage to get in devotional reading. (Bible - KJV and God Hears Her by Our Daily Bread Ministries) I'm not sure if my schedule will permit a lot more or not. I'll be flying Sunday and probably won't get much reading/listening done until the return drive next Thursday.

I'm in. It's looking to be another rainy weekend, good for reading.
4cbl_tn
I haven't felt like reading since I came down with COVID last weekend. I am well on the way to recovery now, so maybe my reading will get back on track this weekend.
5AnneDC
Last weekend was a terrible reading weekend, very little reading, no posts to Readathon thread. This weekend will be better! I'm taking a half day off today so may start early.
6torontoc
I'll do some reading although I have experienced a real slowdown in the past couple of months.
7nrmay

Forty Acres and Maybe a Mule, African-Americans post Civil War
Love and Saffron, for Cookin' the Books challenge

Dinner - I cooked 'Pobre Hombre Huevos', a great recipe I got from an LT friend.
Now considering a second G & T . . Hey, it's Friday.
Other activity:
watched a bit of the Jan 6 hearings . . dispiriting.

Thoughts: should go for a long walk but I'm feeling kind of weary . .

I am at the end of Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks

Friday reading:
Books read from: She's Not There, Sorrow and Bliss, The Gurkha's Daughter
Books finished: none yet
Pages read: 79
Time reading: maybe 2 hours
Snacks: Dinner was roast chicken and vegetables made by my SIL
Thoughts: We are spending the weekend at our cabin in northern Minnesota. It's the first time I've been here--my husband, who is from this area, has been working on this for several years, and it is finally almost inhabitable (no running water and no kitchen appliances, yet, but other than that...) It's very beautiful here but I think the mosquitos will keep me indoors, reading.
Non-book activities: Long nap, dinner with in-laws, walk, conversations with husband (seriously, every time I picked up my book...).
Total books finished: none
Total read from: 3 She's Not There, Sorrow and Bliss, The Gurkha's Daughter
Total pages read: 79
Total time reading: 2 hours
I have two reading goals this weekend: Finish She's Not There for my book group on Tuesday, and finish Sorrow and Bliss so I will have read the whole Women's Prize Shortlist before they announce the winner on June 15. It will be the first time in many years that I've managed to do this.
>11 nrmay: What a good idea, reading an audiobook of A Suitable Boy. I might have to consider that--my print version is way too intimidating.

OMGosh! I just looked it up and realized the original novel is nearly 1500 pages.
I've been listening to a 6-hour BBC radio adaptation. I checked it out from DC Public.
Now I feel like I'm missing a lot . . I see there is also a BBC tv series.
Sat. afternoon in Charlotte
Books:
Finished Love and Saffron. :)
>3 susanna.fraser:
You might like this, Susanna. Takes place in Seattle area and Camano Island.
Still reading Forty Acres and Maybe a Mule and
listening to A Suitable Boy
Started Sierra Six and
The Impossible Us
Breakfast was Cheerios with granola on top.
Lunch - leftover pobre hombre huevos, tomatoes and Italian suusage.
Other activity:
Writing and sending postcrossing cards.
Thinking of what I have to do get ready to leave town on Monday.
Would prefer reading on the porch and a little nap . .

Saturday afternoon posting:
Books Read From: I have read nothing from Unwarranted: Policing Without Permission by Barry Friedman, but I still have it on my bedside table and so will list it and get back to it. My main read is Nine Pints: A Journey Through Money, Medicine, and Mysteries of Blood by Rose George for the LT June challenge of books about science and medicine. I started Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America's Shining Girls by Kate Moore and it is so very depressing. I am listening to Thunderstruck by Eric Larson.
Books finished in this weekend's Readathon:
Book Thoughts: I am reading mostly nonfiction at the moment. I hope to start Philida this weekend. If I don't get it started I will be behind in my reading plan for the month.
Time reading: 1 hour
Time posting:
Food: Went out with some friends last night for Thai food and enjoyed the time spent with them. I am going to cook up some stuffed zuchinni later this afternoon. I need to get this done because I am spending too much money on eating out and every penny spent on food at a restaurant here is less I have to spend on food in Washington D.C.
Nonbook activities: Many phone calls today. I also cleaned out the flower bed next to the patio and feel good about doing so. It was cloudy this morning and cool so it made the work easier. Tomorrow I will haul the junk to the street for pickup on Wednesday.
Total books finished since the Read-A-Thon Began: 235
Total Time Reading since the Social Distancing read-a-thon began: 628 hours since I started participating in the Read-A-Thon that started in April 2020.

>15 nrmay: It's funny, when I went to look for an audio version the only one I could find is the one you have. It doesn't seem like an unabridged version exists, at least not through Audible.

Books finished: She's Not There
Pages read: 171 plus 7 audiobook chapters
Time reading: 3 hours plus 1 1/2 hours listening
Snacks: Dinner was burgers and watermelon salad, again courtesy of my SIL.
Thoughts: Northern Minnesota is beautiful but there sure are a lot of mosquitoes right now.
Non-book activities: Wordle, Yoga, spelling bee, breakfast, short walk, lunch, brother and sister-in-law's for dinner.
Total books finished: 1 She's Not There
Total read from: 4 She's Not There, Sorrow and Bliss, The Gurkha's Daughter, The Emergency: A Year of Healing and Heartbreak in a Chicago ER

Sunday morning posting:
Books Read From: I read 2 pages in Unwarranted: Policing Without Permission by Barry Friedman. Some in Nine Pints: A Journey Through Money, Medicine, and Mysteries of Blood by Rose George and just finished the chapter on menstruation. Very interesting reading. This one is for the LT June challenge of books about science and medicine. I started Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America's Shining Girls by Kate Moore and it is so very depressing. I finished listening to Thunderstruck by Eric Larson and went back to listening to Monster of Men by Patrick Ness.
Books finished in this weekend's Readathon: Thunderstruck by Erik Larson
Book Thoughts: I finished reading Thunderstruck by Erik Larson. It is his usual fare. One unconnected event connected to another unconnected event , and yet somehow he manages to make connections. This creates conflict and drama where, in real life, there was none. I don't understand why people like his books so much. Oh well. This one was for a Book Discussion group in real life so I am now done with it and can move on to something I will like.
Time reading: 1 hour
Time posting:
Food: Bought lots of fruit yesterday at the supermarket and spent hours cutting it up. I also chopped all of the ingredients I will need to make my stuffed zucchini later this afternoon. That will be food for next week. This is a Moosewood recipe and it will be good.
Nonbook activities: I have a real life Book Discussion group meeting later today. No phone time today. Thank goodness. I spent a pleasant evening with my former supervisor discussing a problem at work. She told me to speak truth to power and let them have it in the meeting on Monday afternoon. I don't think that is in me, but I will say what I think.

Today members of my pottery studio co-op came to my house ( backyard) for a potluck lunch. It was very nice to see people that I had not seen in person for three years. We all had a great time!
