Favorite books from 2021 (in no particular order):

Be Holding by Ross Gay
Agatha of Little Neon by Claire Luchette
Autumn by Ali Smith
Igifu by Scholastique Mukasonga
The Bass Rock by Evie Wyld
Damnation Spring by Ash Davidson
I Hold a Wolf By the Ears by Laura Van den Berg
Ghost Forest by Pik-Shuen Fung
Matrix by Lauren Groff
The Intangibles by Elaine Equi

Be Holding was probably the best thing I read in 2021. If you’re a fan of poetry, basketball, and/or dazzling and powerful prose, I think you’d really enjoy this book-length poem.
