People who were selling this for 200 pounds on ebay will be crushed. I hope they reprint the other Christie hits as well.

I also almost fell over yesterday. At the beginning of the year I asked the customer service if they might reprint the older ones, especially with the „Death on the Nile“ movie coming out. They said they will definitely not do any reprints 😅 I am glad the customer service agent was wrong.

I would love a reprint of the older books, they are so superbly illustrated, great atmosphere. I own Murder on the Orient Express, but that is the only one of the older ones.
The eBay prices are so high, I never even thought about paying 350€ for Death on the Nile.
I guess there has been some demand on the Christie titles…let’s cross our fingers they will do the other ones as well, that would be great! Not for my wallet though.

Am I right that in this format (2012 onwards) they have released:

Miss Marple
- The Murder at the Vicarage
- The Body in the Library
- A Pocket Full of Rye
- Sleeping Murder
- "Miss Marple Novels" (box set of the 4 above)
- "Miss Marple Short Stories"

Hercule Poirot
- Death on the Nile
- The ABC Murders
- Murder on the Orient Express
- The Mysterious Affair at Styles
- "Hercule Poirot Novels" (box set of the 4 above)
- The Murder of Roger Ackroyd
- Five Little Pigs

And then in the new format (2017 onwards):

- And Then There Were None
- Crooked House
- Sparkling Cyanide

(I have underlined those currently in print.)

Books have continued to be released in the 2012 format even after the 2017 format debuted with And Then There Were None. It seems that Miss Marple and Poirot books will continue to use the older format, while books not featuring either character will use the new format.

>4 strangenews: I'm not sure how long it had been out of print (a good couple of years or so, though, I think), but secondary market prices fluctuated from $200-$400 or so. And yes, the reprint was a complete surprise.

Under the announcement post of the reprint on Instagram they are all asking for more reprints. I guess we might get lucky. The Agatha Christies are a crowd pleaser and if they want to sell and make money, these books will probably sell like hotcakes.

>7 PeterFitzGerald: As far as I perceive it, it is not the old vs the new format, but all Miss Marple and Poirot Novels are in the one format (Andrew Davidson illustrations and three dashes above and below the title on the spine) and the standalone stories without a well known detective are published in the other format. Like „And then there were None“, though I believe it’s not always the same illustrator, as it is with the Marple/Poirot novels

>7 PeterFitzGerald: >11 woodstock8786: I believe FS confirmed this when people inquired about the change in format when And Then There Were None was released.

I'm glad folks that missed it the first time are able to pick up a reasonably priced copy of Orient Express. I am still hoping the Poirot short stories will be released in the current format as the Marple stories were.

A youtube reviewer just posted an excellent video on this volume:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6TUdJJ7MMU

He's done quite a few in depth looks at Folio editions. Well worth checking out if you're wondering about the nuts and bolts of a particular book.

hopefully we'll get a reprint of the ABC murders. That's the one I'm missing.

>14 dyhtstriyk: I also need ABC Murders. And Death on the Nile. And I just cannot justify the asking prices on the secondary market, so I'd jump all over some reprints!

And hey - thanks for the above shout-out PartTimeBookAddict. So cool of you to link it. Got me feeling all bashful over here!

As FS now will release the Murder of Roger Ackroyd in the new design and without the great illustrations by Andrew Davidson, I fear my hopes of ever getting the Marple novels reprinted and republished are dashed.
When they now publish a Poirot novel in a new design, they will never reprint the old ones.
Shame I really prefer the Davidson illustrations. Secondary market prices are still a bit high

>18 BreakBeatDJ: if counting the Marple Short stories reprinted with new illustrations, it is 11.

Here is quite a nice overview:
