The past couple of months, I've been busy reading Hugo and Aurora awards nominees, in preparation for voting, and so I've mostly neglected BookCrossing books. However, that is now done, and I'm hoping to concentrate on getting more books from my own shelves finished and registered. I also have 2 ABC books to read and release.

I'm going to try to read at least 4 books from the TBR shelves in August. I'm pretty busy with gardening and freezing and preserving but I hope to work in some reading and knitting time too.

I've had three book ring books to read these past eight weeks, they all arrived in close succession. I think I've got my name down for one more, but I'd better not join any others for a while. That plus re-reading my favourite 10 books that I will always keep, means I haven't done much with the TBR pile. I've read Hero Of Rome by Doug Jackson (which coincided with me making a trip to Ribchester, which has a Roman museum) and Second Glance and Salem Falls by Jodie Piccoult. I enjoy Jodi Piccoult's books and have sought them out ever since a friend introduced me to them c.2008. But up till now I hadn't kept any of her books on my shelves. I've decided to keep Salem Falls as it's the one whose plot has most stuck in my mind.
I've started reading The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo. I've seen the films (the original ones with English subtitles), a friend recommended I try the books too, and this is one I came across recently on a book swap shelf. I don't think it will take long to read, since it's a thriller I expect the storyline to flow swiftly.

I thought I got through 4 books in August but in going over to my own thread I realized I counted one for July already so only 3 TBR books read by me, not 4 as I wanted.

I finished two books off my shelves, Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse and My Cousin Rachel by Daphne du Maurier. I haven't decided yet if I want to release or keep them, so they may not count toward my challenge numbers.

Siddhartha was left behind by my daughter, so I'm not sure if I should release it or if it's now fair game, since she's been out of the house for almost 10 years!

I've been trying to not hoard too many books, but I do like keeping Virago Modern Classics, and My Cousin Rachel is a VMC book, though not one of the ones with the iconic covers.
