I recently made my first batch of homemade limoncello and it came out perfectly. I've been wanting to try out homemade wine but I'm a little intimidated. Has anyone made homemade stuff?

I used to make beer for a while, but gave up when I realized I wasn't likely to be the Bill Gates of beer.

My wife made some limoncello a few months back. It was very good, but didn't seem to yield much for the effort.

When I was in high school I had a friend who made out of fruit scraps a gallon of the most god-awful concoction I ever put to mouth. It would do the trick if you could hold it down long enough. That was the real challenge, could you get it down and keep it down.

And I forgot this. My wife's grandfather cooked shine up in the hills of North Georgia during the depression and sold it in town. The revenoors tried but they never could book'im so he just kept right on a cookin'.

My better half has been brewing beer in the spare bedroom which has turned out to be pretty good. We decided we couldn't really do wine justice.

The moonshine thing during Prohibition must have been widespread as it was in the hills of western NC as well. My grandfather was one of the few people to be able to build a new house during the Depression because of it. Of course, there was a little problem and he had to depart for Virginia for a few years until things cooled down.

My uncles also made moonshine, though this would be in northern Texas. I doubt if I'd want to drink it though, sounds like it would be the equivalent of anti-freeze. I think it was called White Lightening.
I had a friend who had made wine out of tomatoes many years ago. She said it was fine but I think I'd prefer grapes or berries. Though it may be so difficult that I shouldn't bother.

I have made a dandelion wine before that I thought was quite good. It was awhile ago, but I remember it being fairly easy. Time-consuming, yes, but not terribly difficult.
