Beyond the Pale and Other Stories by William Trevor 2010
This is a delightful collection of 18 Irish short stories that vary in length from a handful of pages to over sixty. The topics are very varied, from droll humour to unrequited love and life in the city, and all very Irish.
The stories are relatively modern, the oldest dating from 1967 and the newest from 2007. They are arranged chronologically within the book.
There are nine full page colour plates by Lyndon Hayes and it is bound in cloth printed with a wrap-around colour picture by the artist with silver lettering to the spine. The stories are selected and introduced by William Trevor. The book has 336 pages, the endpapers are plain green and the 24.9x17cm. slipcase is black.
