[Dandelion Wine] A Book for Those of A Certain Age

I have been doing a lot of reflection and book reading for the last 2+ years to help me understand what books I like and why. I just finished a book which provided me with a lot of understanding about my life. This is Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradford.

I'm not sure at what personal age this book would be compulsory reading but I wished I had read it 20 years ago.

Thanks. I've never read that book, but the title and the review remind me of the long-running British television series "Last of the Summer Wine". It's a delightful gentle comedy featuring three old age pensioners ("senior citizens" in modern parlance) in a small Yorkshire village. One is rather uptightly upper middle class, the second a lower middle class "everyman", the third unashamedly working class. The series ran for nearly forty years, following the exploits of the three friends as in many ways they revert to childhood. It's widely available on DVD and YouTube, and repeats are still often seen on TV.

>2 John5918: You're bringing up that TV show is very ironic, as I watched the bulk of those shows over the decades and my recurring thought was that my childhood activities were pretty much the same except our choices were not as adult in the details. But our conversations amongst ourselves were hilariously similar.

After looking at your profile I can see that Dandelion Wine will be very interesting to you. Will look forward to your comments after you find the time to read the book. Personally, I always listen to an audiobook because it adds so much to any book.
