Why reading is a good habit

Reading expands the mind and fuels the imagination. Stories in books can transport us to distant lands and teach us about real topics and inspirational ones.

Where nonfiction offers factual education, fiction offers emotional and social education.

Creativity is a little like making a good stew--take a little of this thought, a little of that vocabulary; mix it well to make your own unique piece. Writers who are well-read in lots of subject areas, not just their chosen genres, have a larger "cupboard" of ideas and references to draw from when they sit down to work.
