Should Wesley have stayed to support his wife and ill son, rather going to the scene of Amy’s death? Are there danger signs for Wesley’s marriage?

I think Wesley’s job is beginning to annoy his wife and I do see problems ahead with their marriage.

Unfortunately, it shouldn't be that way but his job does come first. I also believe she realizes that his family will never come first as long as he's a police officer...unless he becomes chief.

Agree with Carol. His job and investigating a murder had to come first. It not only takes a toll on his wife, but also on him

Wesley needs to read the stats. The particular demands of police work play havoc with marriages. I felt that we were not hearing enough from Pam but perhaps her point of view will get more emphasis in later books in the series.

Given how ill the son was I think he needed to be there to support his wife and family, his wife had never been shown to be a worrier so if she was he should have taken more note. There is a fair size time so others could have covered for the absence in this case. At the end of the day it is a job, and family in these circumstances come first. He gives copious hours to the job and it feels as if a big strain is starting to show on his marriage. Worrying developments for future books. I agree with >5 Maura49: on this.

It was an awful position for Wesley to find himself in.
