The disappearance of Nicola Bulley

Nicola Bulley, 45, married and mother of two children, went missing while walking her dog on January 27 near the village of St Michael's on Wyre. A public house was within a short walk from the supposed place of her disappearance.

If you're British or living in Britain, you almost certainly know of this missing-person case. You probably also know that, apart from talking about it with family and friends in peron, British online newspapers (of the so-called respectable kind) have placed a virtual taboo on online commentaries in their news reports' pages.

Theories abound.

But the public's views aren't welcomed in the press comments-sections.

Hence, this thread for LT's British readers. No disrespect of the Bulley family is intended.

As I see it, one of the strangest anomalies concerns Mrs. Bulley's dog, found loose but nearby where she is thought to have last been prior to her disappearance. It suggests to me that if she was abducted, taken by force, this wasn't done "on foot". Her dog would not have failed to react had she been physically assaulted and dragged away any great distance. It suggests that she either left willingly on foot, without duress or, if under duress, was abducted in some form of vehicle.

I discount her accidentally falling or jumping or being pushed into the nearby river.

It's a very strange event but perhaps best left to people with local knowledge of the area or good knowledge of the family.

"Left to them" how? Don't comment? Don't discuss? As though our opinions here should or could impede their progress?

And, on that topic, where, one month on in just ten days, is that progress?

No one's comments here are going to have the slightest influence one way or the other on the course of the investigation-- unless, of course, someone thinks of something which the authorities have not thought of.

Police at this stage have already solicited the public to come forward with any information which could be helpful. What does one do? What for a fully developed flow-chart diagram of "What could be helpful"?

Well a body has been found today (19th Feb) which I expect is almost certainly her although not formally identified. Lots of weird posts on Twitter:-

"it can't be her because police searched the river and she wasn't there"
"some must have put her there today/yesterday"
"it was her husband" (who presumably kept her under his bed for over two week before tipping her in the water.

Think we need to wait for more info.
