Hey all,
I'm new here.
I'm Laura, I live in Edinburgh, Scotland and love reading most things.
I'm aiming for at least 75 books in 2023.
Categories include:

Trollope - Barsetshire Novels
Trollope - Palliser Novels
Zola - Rougon Macquart (as many as I can read in 2023)
Brontes - all the major novels

I'll mix and match the rest of the time.
Glad to be here.

Hi Laura. Hope you are enjoying Trollope. Right now I'm slowing re-reading the Barsetshire books on audiobook (read by Simon Vance)--just finished Framley Parsonage a few days ago and started The Small House at Allington yesterday. I originally read them about 12 years ago and I'm enjoying the re-read. Part of the fun is spotting characters that are popping up in the earlier books, and that I know will show up in the later ones (even in the Palliser series).

A few years ago I started a project reading Trollope's other stand-alone novels (very slowly) in chronological order, and am up to about 1870. Ralph the Heir is up next. One of the problems has been to find copies here in the U.S. of the lesser known titles, but I think I've got a full set now through various online used book websites.

If you are interested, there are a group of us doing reads of Trollope's minor novels (about 2 a year), and the reads are led by Liz (lyzard), who is a brilliant leader and so knowledge about Trollope and the 19th century novel. Here's the group read she lead of Barchester Towers back in 2017, for you to get an idea of how it works: https://www.librarything.com/topic/144010
I believe she's planning a group read of The Claverings in the summer, and she usually posts an announcement on the 75ers Message Board.

I finally made it through all the Bronte novels. My absolute favorite is Jane Eyre which I read as a pre-teen and perhaps second is The Tenant of Wildfell Hall which I read a few years ago. I was fortunate to travel to Yorkshire in 2017 and visit the Bronte Parsonage, which was a wonderful experience. My son & his family live in Sheffield, so I hope to make it to the U.K. in the next year or two, now that Covid seems to have subsided.

Sorry to overwhelm ;) Enjoy your reading!

>2 ReadingIsADoingWord: Re: your list of books read so far: I found Copenhagen fascinating when I read it 20 years ago. I would love to see it performed. The Crucible was a standard high school requirement back in my day, and I have to say I was bored to tears at the time, and it has put me off reading it again.
