What your thoughts on Harry still living in his red tagged house? Was this a wise move?

He likes to live life on the edge. Of course, he's doing something dangerous but his home is not only his only asset but the place he feels safe, despite the fact that it's unsafe to be there.

This is just plain stupid - nothing more to say.

Not wise, but then he’s a grown man - if he wishes to defy the authorities, that’s his decision to make (as long as he’s endangering no-one else).

Not a bright idea living in a house that was ruined in an earthquake. Putting money into the house is just as stupid as pouring it down the drain.

I think a lot of people living in California and other places where earthquakes are as common as the sun coming up, probably continue to live in unsafe structures. He can only be advised to leave...nothing saying he has to. Was it the smartest move he had ever made? No... but if it falls down around him, he can't sue anybody.

I have sympathy for him. His damaged house is all he has left in terms of personal life and earlier books in the series have made it plain that he loves it and its location.

>7 Maura49: - AHHH! That was such a sweet thought! I seriously like how sympatric you are to Harry. Of course...the house is almost all he has left.

From my perspective it was not a wise move, however from Harry's troubled viewpoint it fit in with what appears to be his self destructive behavior.

>7 Maura49: >9 JohnDBurke: I agree with you both. The house is all Harry has at the moment - he doesn’t have family, Sylvia has left and he doesn’t even have his job. And add to the fact that he likes to defy authority…

I agree the house is important to him, he’s too stubborn. I hope he wins his case and can keep the house, but his actions are a bit crazy.

>7 Maura49: >9 JohnDBurke: >11 bluebird_: Agreed! Definitely the mark of someone who is in denial, who is watching his life fall down around him, and is doing pretty stupid things with his life and his choices. Kind of like, if he can't put himself in danger as a cop, then his other foundation, his house, will serve for the danger.
