Do you think a lot of Bosch’s issues relate back to his mother? Any thoughts about her as a mother?
2Sergeirocks
I think the woman did her best for Harry, and she certainly loved him and was trying her hardest to get him back.
Harry’s issues are undoubtedly a lot to do with his formative years, which were unfortunately affected by his time in the system, especially after his mothers murder.

Harry’s mother loved him and he her. I feel his problems in this area resulted from their forced separation by the welfare authorities and his being placed “behind the fence” in the institution he was sent to.

I agree with >2 Sergeirocks: and >3 JohnDBurke:. It's obvious how much his mother loved him. I like the way that he characterized it "she just ran out of time".

I think Harry’s problems started after her death. I think Harry would have survived as I believe his mother loved him and did everything she could for him,

I think it says everything that Harry's memories of his mother are loving ones. He seems to bear no grudges and this all points to a mother who loved her son and did her best for him in awful circumstances.

I agree with everyone but especially with >3 JohnDBurke:. Sometimes the Welfare system does more harm than good.

It is clear that his mother, and her friend, loved him. Not too sure how he ended up in care unless presumably it was because she was a prostitute. Life dealt Harry 2a bad card with what happened.

I agree - he loved his mother very much, has only good memories of her, and maybe that's why he's working so hard to rebuild himself instead of walking away from the police force. And why he's looking into her murder.
