What did you think had happened when Bosch left the care home? Should Bosch have been more on his guard?

Just what it was - that Mittel's guy had gotten to Bosch and that he was being kidnapped. He should have been more on his guard but I think the emotion of the meeting with Conklin may have made him slow to react.

As soon as Bosch thought he saw a guy in a suit it seemed very apparent what was going to happen.

Harry was probably preoccupied, his mind on what Conklin had told him. He entered the care home bent on vengeance and had the wind taken out of his sails by Conklin's story.

Harry was distracted by the revelations he had just received. He only thought I hope he does't ask for help in changing the tire.

I agree with Eadie. He was aware enough of his surroundings to notice the man with the car parked next to him…but he just assumed it was an innocuous occurrence. I felt this was an error by the author. I think this would have raised some alarm bells in his head..even if he had forgotten about the man in the suit because he was trying to process what Conklin had revealed to him. One of the few parts of the book that felt off.

>7 bluebird_: I agree totally with this point. It just didn’t feel right.

>7 bluebird_: >8 Andrew-theQM: My thinking, too. My Spidey senses were on alert, Bosch’s should have been, too.

>9 Sergeirocks: Yes, Bosch would have been on high alert, even after the revelations in the care home.
