Just started The librarian of burned books, which may not be a mystery but does have thriller elements, what with 1930s Germany and World War II.

Checked what's due at the library soon and started Jacqueline Winspear's The White Lady, which takes place in Europe during both world wars. So far so good.

I just finished The Lady from Zagreb, the 10th book in Philip Kerr's excellent Bernie Gunther series. This one's not quite as good as the previous books in the series, but so-so Bernie Gunther is still pretty darn good.

Currently reading Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourn. I really love her Historical Mysteries, so hoping this book about aging assassins will also be good. Definitely has a "Red" movie vibe so far, but with older menopausal ladies.

Now reading Burial of Ghosts, by Ann Cleeves, which I forgot was due back to the library in two days. Good so far!

I finished Peril in Paris, which is the last (so far) of Rhys Bowen's royal spyness series featuring Lady Georgie. These have been great bedtime reads. I decided to reread Sarah Shaber's Simon Shaw series, which I find great fun. I remember enjoying them when they were new, but that was 20 years ago and I don't remember them well at all. I have the first two (of five), which I read last year; I found #3 and #5 at the library and purchased a $4 copy of the fourth one on ebay. So now I'm in the middle of The Fugitive King.

Currently reading Eddie Robson's Drunk on all your strange new words, which is a mystery set in a future New York City featuring a British woman working as a translator to an alien cultural atttache. It feels as much a mystery novel as anything, even though it's sold as science fiction. So far so good, both as a mystery and as science fiction.

>20 Cecilturtle: Been a long time since I had a visit with Koko! You've still got plenty of good'uns to go before the series deteriorates. (The latter ones aren't as good as the first, but once you're hooked...)

>24 gmathis: Thanks for the tip gmathis!

I've picked up La Soif (The Thirst) by Jo Nesbø. It's been a while since I've read a Harry Hole mystery. So far, it verges on the horror genre...

Just finished Stateless, an historical mystery by Elizabeth Wein. It's a standalone story about an air race for young pilots in 1937 Europe. Good story, good tension; it's YA, but don't let that stop you.

I finished Hunting Badger, the 14th book in Tony Hillerman's famous Leaphorn/Chee mystery series, which seems an odd place to start (I have a vague memory of reading one of Hillerman's books decades ago, but no specific memory), but it was the selection for my reading group this month. I guess the 14th book in a series is an odd selection for a reading group, but mine is not to reason why. Anyway, I enjoyed the reading experience, and though I won't be going out of my way to go back and start the series from the beginning right away, I could see how the series might otherwise be in my future once I get through some of the other series I'm currently navigating.
