I am going to try and take part as I can this weekend. I will be at my father's tomorrow, but I am taking books for when I have some down time. Kerry and I will probably be over there at least one more day of the weekend. We will see.

I’ll be on the train home from a work trip tomorrow so will try to intersperse my movie-and-knitting marathon with some reading.
And then we have a four day weekend because Tuesday is Swedish Independence Day (500 years!) so Monday is a bridge day. Hoping to get some reading time in but I’m also helping my parents at the summer house and sowing all the seeds in the veggie garden so we’ll see how much time I have left.

Friday update

Books read from: Hero of the Empire: The Boer War, a Daring Escape, and the Making of Winston Churchill by Candice Millard. Eventide by Kent Haruf. I am listening to Hell Bent by Leigh Bardugo.

Books finished in this weekend's Readathon:

Book Thoughts: I am really enjoying Eventide by Kent Haruf. This novel really captures the essence of the modern High Plains and the small communities there.

Non-Book activities: I am recovering from the Thursday expedition to Lidia's of Kansas City and all the hubbub surrounding the breakdown of the pickup. I won't be reading much tonight. I did a couple of rounds in my National Parks stocking cap and I do think my color work looks very nice.

Time reading: 1 hour
Time posting:
Food: sandwich and potato salad for supper

Sunday night

Just finished Memory Man by Baldacci.
Took forever and it was too gruesome for me.

Dinner was chicken pate followed by fish & chips.

Other activity: toured the Glengrant whiskey distillery. Saw the Heeland coos (Highland hairy cows) and the Scottish red deer.

53 F. (12 C. ) in Boat of Garten, Scotland, where the sun didn’t set till after 10p.

Monday wrapup

Books read from: Hero of the Empire: The Boer War, a Daring Escape, and the Making of Winston Churchill by Candice Millard. Eventide by Kent Haruf and started Our Man In Havana by Graham Greene. I am listening to Hell Bent by Leigh Bardugo.

Books finished in this weekend's Readathon: Eventide by Kent Haruf

Book Thoughts: I have enjoyed both books that I have read in the Holt Cycle by Haruf. They are bleak but hopeful and full of love. Familial love, romantic love, and environmental love.

Non-Book activities: I ended up baking another lemon cake and a batch of the Earl Grey Madeline's for my cousins potluck on Sunday night. I didn't bring home much of either dish. They got snarfed up by the hungery crowd.

Time reading: 1 hour
Time posting:
Food: chili pie and lemon cake with ice cream for supper.
