I am going to give the 75 Books Challenge a try even though I know it is an impossibility. I don't think I have ever read that many books in a year, and I am off to a very slow start anyway. Here is what I have so far:
Hell of a Book by Jason Mott
The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper by Phaedra Patrick
The Last Bookshop in London by Madeline Martin
The Christie Affair by Nina De Gramont
The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz
Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan
This is Happiness by Niall Williams
Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro
Crossroads by Jonathan Franzen
The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave
Stealing by Margaret Verble

Welcome to the 75ers, Carolyn! I joined the group back in January, even though I suspected I wouldn't get to 75 this year. Given my pace so far, it doesn't look like I'll get there, but I'll just do as much as I can. I'm reading too much nonfiction this year to get a large book total. Just saying there's really no need to worry too much about your totals for the year.
I have found the 75ers to be a great group! I am glad you have joined us!

Welcome to the group. Don't sweat the number. When I first joined, I too thought there's no way I would ever read that much, but now 75 is a reasonable expectation for my year. The number isn't important, but I will say that this group of super-readers will wear off on you and you'll find you are reading more than you thought.
Regardless of how much you actually read, your Wishlist/TBR piles will definitely grow exponentially. :)

Welcome to the 75ers. Read what you can, and enjoy the journey. Don't stress. Just have fun with sharing your reads with others.

Welcome, Carolyn! This is a lovely group of people.

Welcome to the group! Some nice reading, how did you like The Plot? I recently finished The Latecomer; really interesting.

Jeannette Walls is making an appearance in my town this week. I read her book, The Glass Castle, about 15 years ago. I really loved it so I decided I would start reading her new book, Hang the Moon, and attend the upcoming book event. I'm about a third of the way through and it is great fun!

>9 banjo123: I loved The Plot! I couldn't put it down. Coincidentally, right before I started reading it, I had read a short story with a similar plot ..."My Purpled Scented Novel" by Ian McEwan. McEwan's take on the plagiarism theme is ingenious! It's part of a series called Vintage Shorts by Penguin Random House. They are digital short stories that cost about 99 cents each.

Welcome to the 75 challenge group Carolyn! I've been here since 2008. A co-worker mentioned Library Thing and that she used this as a way to catalog her books. She joined the 50 challenge group. I knew I read more than 50, so jumped into the 75 group, and I've been very happy here.
I'll stop back to see what you are reading. A hearty welcome to you!

>12 Whisper1: I didn't know there was a 50 Challenge group! Maybe I should have joined that one!

The book numbers are entirely coincidental, Carolyn.
>13 CarolynBurke7: Don't leave us just as you've joined us!

>13 CarolynBurke7: It doesn't look like I'm going to get to 75 this year. Too much long nonfiction and too many interruptions so far. Unless I suddenly take up a bunch of short fiction books. But the total doesn't matter. The company here is so great! I second Paul, don't leave us now!

Yes, I'll stay! Thanks for the encouragement. I remember when I took Children's Literature in Library School, we had to read 100 chapter books in a semester and write index cards on them! I managed to do that. I remember you had to read some really short ones to make time for the longer ones you wanted read.
