How did you initially explain Boston, New York City and Washington DC not being destroyed as the picture had shown? What did you make of the theories of an alternative timeline or a piece of a future timeline?

I thought it was going to happen in four days and Sigma would then have an opportunity to keep that from happening. I think the alternative timeline is a good way to explain what has happened.

Initially I did not have an explanation, but the the theory of the time jump made sense. And it gives me hope that the book will start to move quickly. They only have 4 days!

This is what I felt may be the explanation. Interesting how they laid out how time was played with due to the dark energy. Once they start talking about glimpses into the future or alternate time lines it does rather scramble your brain as you try to make sense or order out of it.

Interesting. But not very realistic. Time warps? Alternate universes? All very theoretical.
I’m suspending disbelief, however, and preparing to enjoy the ride.

>5 Sergeirocks: I think James Rollins wanted us to suspend our disbelief with this one. Of course, by book #9 we know that Sigma is going to make everything right.

All I know is that I have to place my trust in Sigma or I need to pack up and move before the 4 days is over.

The destruction in the photo was the prediction setting the story line of Sigma saving the planet. Can accept the therories not as laws as they are only theoretically assumptions.

>9 Carol420: the only handle I have on this confusing story is I think Rollins is doing this for a purpose. It is different than his previous Sigma Books in its confusion. End of Days storyline books or movies always have a a message other than earth’s destruction. I feel Rollins is taking us there through our asking where are we going and has little to do with villains. Reading this response confuses me a little.

I'm one of those sad people who never could grasp physics or maths at school so all of these theories made my head spin.

Alternate timelines always make for a good time in fictional material but if you put too much thought into it you see how many realistic holes it causes. so good for movies and books, not so much reality.
