the GRIND poem

Beyond Black Coffee

Instead of flying,
Fear grounds what can’t be found.
Roads travel,
Distant expanses,
Through space and
empty daydreaming.
Speak today clearly
Or ambiguously.
Be obvious and deadly,
Becoming silent,
Becoming one with fear.
Bare minded.
Clear as water,
Blood,
Flesh.
Find a pot-of-gold
over-the-rainbow
in my gut.
Look around,
See a ghost,
And SCREAM!
All you have is this.
Don’t waste it!
Don’t waste everything.
Only the wise rush life.
Rush through,
Flying in toward the light of fear.
Live within a lie
Within temptation
Without colors
Without cares
Without limits
In the endless void
outside walls
beyond infinity
beyond black coffee.
Endless possibilities
awaiting the end.

See you guys should all go to the Grind so you can make something that amazing!

Although next time maybe we should try the hole line thing that Ray was talking about so people can't get away with words like "the" and "of".

May 1, 2008, 9:56 pm

fyi: adding -licious something doesn't automatically make it rock. (i've had to tell ray this in the past as well.)

16rawrbree
May 2, 2008, 4:00 pm

Uhhh. Yeah, it kinda does! It's just, like, a fact of life...

17ggfuatuiwwgiac

However if it was a word would it be 2 or 3 L's?

I spent too much time thinking about that . . .

23Courtneylee1984
May 7, 2008, 4:05 pm

definitely 2 Ls.

24rawrbree
May 7, 2008, 4:14 pm

25ggfuatuiwwgiac
May 9, 2008, 7:40 pm

but hell has 2 "L"'s and licious has 1 "L" and 2 + 1 = 3
Although I think theres some canceling out rule involved there . . .

26rawrbree

30rawrbree
May 13, 2008, 3:38 pm

We are no longer talking about the grind poem . . . maybe we should stay on topic . . . . okay so I don't know how much there is to say about it but still

32rawrbree
May 14, 2008, 3:36 pm

fun time in canadia!

Jul 5, 2008, 2:35 pm

why aren't we talking about the grind poem anymore?

34rawrbree
Jul 5, 2008, 6:35 pm

because none of our topics seem to stay on topic... (I think this is mostly to my fault)

35ggfuatuiwwgiac
Jul 6, 2008, 4:45 pm

What else is there to say about the grind poem and all its pomeiness? (I'm almost 100% positive pomeiness isn't actually a word - the almost)

let's talk about the poems structure.

what does everyone think of the author's use of caps at the beginning of some sentence, but not on others?

does it contribute to the poem at large? why or why not?

:-)

*poem's

i should know better.

38rawrbree
Jul 6, 2008, 8:16 pm

well, of course you should know!
well, at least I hope you would know....

Well, due to the fact that beginning some lines/sentences with capitals, while not in others, goes against the general formatting of poems. So it all depends on who you are asking.

39ggfuatuiwwgiac
Jul 7, 2008, 8:26 pm

Well I don't know anything about actual poetic format but whenever I read a line with an uppercase first letter its a separate though and when the letter is lowercase it flows better and is really the same thought as the line before it.

good job you both.

41rawrbree
Jul 20, 2008, 11:52 pm

What are we getting a 'good job' for?

42rayofsunshine
Jul 22, 2008, 6:53 pm

for humoring me and my goal of making you LEARN through this site (regarding the poem and analyzing it. yes, I know i am a poor speller, no i do not care to better myself or my ability, at least in terms of spelling).

43rawrbree
Jul 23, 2008, 2:18 pm

Uh....you made me learn?

44ggfuatuiwwgiac
Jul 27, 2008, 7:41 pm

Just say yes Bree!

haha when are we going to have another Grind? I'll actually get some people to come this time I promise! (Just don't hold me to my promise . . . no but seriously we will have more than 3 people I promise)
