Went into a local used book store I hadn't been into for some time to chat with the proprietor, a long-time friend. He said he had something for me and forthwith produced a somewhat worse for wear (& slightly devoured by insects) copy of a small book on periodical publishing in the Philippines! To wit:
Taylor, Carson. History of the Philippine Press. Manila, P. I.: (no publisher), 1927, 61 pp.
It is a history of periodical publishing in the Philippines and includes another short work on the Philippine revolutionary press and a list of periodicals that had been registered with the Philippine Post Office as of 1 Feb 1927. Both of these secondary works are by authors other than Mr. Taylor. To add a little interest to the book, it is a presentation copy from Mr. Taylor to a Mr. & Mrs. Stanley "with compliments and best wishes." This signed inscription is dated 'Los Angeles / April 30, 1928.'
Several copies are listed in WorldCat: Stanford, U. Nevada at Reno, et alia, but it is not in LoC, and there doesn't seem to be any out on the market at this time. Interesting little volume, however.
