Mom's doing well. She's healing slowly but surely. Mentally her confusion varies, some days more and some days less.

>2 SilverWolf28: I am glad to hear that your mother is doing well, Silver. I hope she continues to improve even if it is a "slowly but surely process."
I am in for the Readathon as much as I can be. Kerry is coming home today after being out of town since Tuesday.

Saturday night report
Books read from: Glass Devil by Helene Tursten. Vanished Smile: The Mysterious Theft of Mona Lisa by R.A. Scotti. I am listening to Merciful Crow by Margaret Owen.
Books finished: Ants Among Elephants by Sujatha Gidla. All the Old Knives by Olen Steinhauer
Book Thoughts: I finished listening to All the Old Knives by Olen Steinhauer and really enjoyed this old fashioned noir spy thriller. I then started listening to a YA fantasy Merciful Crow which I am finding hard to listen to because of the voice and pronunciations of the narrator. I like the plot and think that this might be a book that I should have read instead of listened to. I should finish up Glass Devil tonight. It is for the LT Mystery group and is book 4 in the Inspector Huss series, which I like.
Non-Book activities: I spent most of the day at the Native American Festival at Moundville, with my former supervisor from the library. We had a great time together and it was a perfect fall day. Then on the phone with my sisters regarding my mother's medical care. This means that I will be leaving for Kansas earlier this week than I thought I would.
Time reading: 1 hour this morning.
Time posting:
Food: Dippin' Dots ice cream for lunch and a sandwich for supper.
Total books finished since the Read-A-Thon Began: 355
Total Time Reading since the Social Distancing read-a-thon began: 1025 hours since I started doing the weekend Read-A-Thon in April of 2020

Sunday evening report
Books read from: Glass Devil by Helene Tursten. Skippy Dies by Paul Murray. Vanished Smile: The Mysterious Theft of Mona Lisa by R.A. Scotti. I am listening to Merciful Crow by Margaret Owen.
Books finished: Glass Devil by Helene Tursten. Ants Among Elephants by Sujatha Gidla. All the Old Knives by Olen Steinhauer.
Book Thoughts: I finished Glass Devil and liked this police procedural even though I figured out who had done it early on in the book. The author is gradually drawing the reader into the private life of Inspector Iren Huss and I like that.
Non-Book activities: I met with an old friend this morning for breakfast and enjoyed my talk with her. I then spent time on the phone with my sister regarding my mother. My mother has been hospitalized for palliative care, so there is a good chance that I will be gone for another extensive period of time in the near future.
Time reading: 1 hour this morning.
Time posting:
Food: bagel and coffee for breakfast and Indian food for lunch.
Total books finished since the Read-A-Thon Began: 356
Total Time Reading since the Social Distancing read-a-thon began: 1026 hours since I started doing the weekend Read-A-Thon in April of 2020

Weekend wrapup
Books read from: Skippy Dies by Paul Murray.
Book Thoughts: My major push this week is going to be Skippy Dies. It is a chunkster at 660 pages. I am going to try to read 55 pages a day. That will take me 12 days to get the book read. So far it reminds of many of the Middle Grade books I have read over the years. That is as it should be since the book is set in a middle grades school in Dublin, Ireland. However, events in my personal life may interfere as my mother has been placed in hospice care.
Non-Book activities: phone call after phone call.
Time reading: .5 hour this morning.
Time posting:
Food: cottage cheese and strawberries for breakfast
Total books finished since the Read-A-Thon Began: 356
Total Time Reading since the Social Distancing read-a-thon began: 1026.5 hours since I started doing the weekend Read-A-Thon in April of 2020
