Series: Ruth Galloway Book #1
Publication Date: 2009

Book Description: Forensic archaeologist Dr. Ruth Galloway is in her late thirties. She lives happily alone with her two cats in a bleak, remote area near Norfolk, land that was sacred to its Iron Age inhabitants—not quite earth, not quite sea. But her routine days of digging up bones and other ancient objects are harshly upended when a child’s bones are found on a desolate beach. Detective Chief Inspector Nelson calls Galloway for help, believing they are the remains of Lucy Downey, a little girl who went missing a decade ago and whose abductor continues to taunt him with bizarre letters containing references to ritual sacrifice, Shakespeare, and the Bible. Then a second girl goes missing and Nelson receives a new letter—exactly like the ones about Lucy. Is it the same killer? Or a copycat murderer, linked in some way to the site near Ruth’s remote home?

Series:Ruth Galloway Book #2
Publication Date: 2010

Book Description: It’s been only a few months since archaeologist Ruth Galloway found herself entangled in a missing persons case, barely escaping with her life. But when construction workers demolishing a large old house in Norwich uncover the bones of a child beneath a doorway—minus its skull—Ruth is once again called upon to investigate. Is it a Roman-era ritual sacrifice, or is the killer closer at hand? Ruth and Detective Harry Nelson would like to find out—and fast.

Overall Average Rating: 4.1

Comments:
"There is plenty of action and forensic detail for thriller fans and yet mild enough for more cozy mystery people."

"This is not a thriller sort of mystery where the main characters are constantly on the run being chased by bad guys. The pace is much slower, and it is more about the characters, especially the complicated relationship between Ruth and Detective Chief Inspector Harry Nelson."

Comments:
"I thought this was the weakest of the three books thus far in the series. The mystery for this book isn't as compelling as the previous volumes."

"The solution to the mystery was a little convoluted...it was just such an unlikely ending."

Comments:
"After the three previous ones I have found that I am reading the books more and more for the characters. Each one is beginning to take one a life of their own."

"All together it is a combination that produces a well done story line in spite of this one being a little more on far fetched side. But...it's my kind of book."

Everything has changed for Ruth Galloway. She has a new job, home, and partner, and she is no longer north Norfolk police’s resident forensic archaeologist. That is, until convicted murderer Ivor March offers to make DCI Nelson a deal. Nelson was always sure that March killed more women than he was charged with. Now March confirms this and offers to show Nelson where the other bodies are buried—but only if Ruth will do the digging. Curious, but wary, Ruth agrees. March tells Ruth that he killed four more women and that their bodies are buried near a village bordering the fens, said to be haunted by the Lantern Men, mysterious figures holding lights that lure travelers to their deaths. The Night Hawkes - Ellie Griffith
Book Discussion
Series: Ruth Galloway: Book #13
Publication Date June 21, 2022

Book Description: There’s nothing Ruth Galloway hates more than amateur archaeologists, but when a group of them stumble upon Bronze Age artifacts alongside a dead body, she finds herself thrust into their midst—and into the crosshairs of a string of murders circling ever closer. Ruth is back as head of archaeology at the University of North Norfolk when a group of local metal detectorists—the so-called Night Hawks—uncovers Bronze Age artifacts on the beach, alongside a recently deceased body, just washed ashore. Not long after, the same detectorists uncover a murder-suicide—a scientist and his wife found at their farmhouse, long thought to be haunted by the Black Shuck, a humongous black dog and a harbinger of death. The further DCI Nelson probes into both cases, the more intertwined they become, and the closer they circle to David Brown, the new lecturer Ruth has recently hired, who seems always to turn up wherever Ruth goes.

I am soon off to meet Miss Alisha Annette Landcaster-Hill. She's our son Jason and his husband Josh's baby daughter...born October 29th. She has both their DNA. Josh's sister carried the baby and Jason was the doner. Two of my good friends did this 20 years ago and their son is going to soon be 21. Everyone enjoy the read.

Thank you everyone. I didn't say anything to begin with since she was born almost 2 months early and only weighed a little over 2-1/2 pounds. They were fairly sure that she would make it but still...She's home now and is not yet quiet 5 pounds but Jason says she's active and she takes the special formula that they have for her like it grew on trees. Josh can work for home so he's going to be her "Daytime Daddy" for a while. They have a lady that they've known for some time that will take care of her when they are both working.
