Where did you think Alan was when he wasn’t with the Night Hawks on their night time hunt?

I though it was time for another dead body to show up and he did see the Black Shuck.

Just where they found him. I was quite honestly just waiting for them to find him as I was reading.

Given that he had some information to tell Cathbad and the police I thought he’d likely turn up dead.

I think he was out killing somebody but they got him instead.

I said in the last section that not being able to spill the beans during a phone call was the precursor to being knocked off; it never fails…
