Are Ruth and David becoming friends? Why do you think David is so hostile about Cathbad?

David is very pushy and forced Ruth to go on the boat. I don’t think she would have gone if Kate and his daughter were not there. I think David is jealous of Cathbad’s relationship with Ruth.

I think he knows Cathbad has special insights. Also, he has been friends with other Night Hawk members and may have picked up some information.

I can’t see Ruth and David being friends - she can barely stand him as a colleague.
I don’t know what David has against Cathbad. Does he know that Cathbad can read him? Can see his bad aura?

David appears very jealous of Ruth’s friendships with both Nelson and Cathbad. He seems very hostile to both Cathbad and Nelson, possibly because of Ruth. I definitely don’t think it is a friendship from both sides! Ruth will never see him as a friend.

I don't trust David, and I am glad Ruth is hesitating thinking of him as a friend. I think he knows Cathbad can see the darkness that is in him and Cathbad has more roots in the community (no pun intended!).
