It's December already! What 1001 books are you reading in this final dash to finish off any yearly challenges?

I've started Hard Times, but not really taking to it so I am also reading Junky. I've also got a few short ones on deck -- The Bitter Glass, King Lear of the Steppe, and The Life of Insects.

I also need to track down Marks of Identity for a challenge prompt.

Currently reading The Heart of the Matter, a 'retired' 1001 book.

I have finished a reread of Mrs. Dalloway in preparation of finally getting around to reading The Hours by Michael Cunningham early next year.
I am currently reading and enjoying Zeno's Conscience, about a third of the way in so far.

Since there are many books by Italo Calvino on the list, I want to draw peoples' attention to the fantastic exhibition about him in Rome at the Quirinale right now, "Favoloso Calvino". Just in case you happen to be in Rome. It turns out that he was an amazing person, wrote novels and children's books and took photographs and made drawings and translated literature into Italian and knew everybody.

I was reading Zeno's Conscience but I lost my copy!

I'm reading The Red Queen by Margaret Drabble; I'm about hal-way through. The story is engrossing and I'm learning a lot (because I know exactly nothing about Korean history) but I'm finding the style stiff, borderline pedantic. Luckily I'm invested in the book enough now that I definitely want to finish it.
